Digital Imagery In GlassDigital Imagry In Glass

Digital photos and images that encompass vibrant colours and inspiring patterns can now be put to a wider use. When laminated between two panels of glass, either flat or curved, you can use the finished product anywhere normal glass is used. From static shower screens to room dividers to kitchen splash backs along with countless other places as well.
It can even be used externally in applications such as garden screens, canopies, tables etc.

How Is It Made

Any design or image you choose can be reproduced. as long as the quality of the original supports the final size of the reproduction. The imagery is produced on PET foil or film 0.125mm thick, ready for lamination. (this film resembles the clear acetate film used in overhead projectors). The finished ‘print’ is then laminated between two panels of flat or curved glass, ready for installation.

How is an image selected?

First of all decide where the image will be used and what the rough shape of it will be, square, portrait or landscape. Best to select an image that roughly matches the area in question. Then decide whether you are going to use a specific image (possibly one that already exists or one that you are going to have produced).

If you need a specific image produced we would be delighted to put you in touch with a photographer who may be able to help, or you can browse our gallery of images here.

Be creative!

Let the beauty, the colour, the textures inherent in digital imagery inspire you – the permutations are endless. Capture a specific ambience, or evoke a certain mood, be it lively, tranquil, energetic etc. In commercial applications create a sense of desire in people’s minds through association, especially in relation to food and health products. You can create something in glass that will not only inspire you day after day, but also keep its appearance and functionality for many years to come.

Applications include:

  • Counter tops
  • Table tops
  • Splashbacks
  • Shower screens
  • Wall panelling
  • Glass flooring
  • Wall murals
  • Balustrading
  • Room dividers
  • Canopies

The importance of light:

It is very important to have the glass situated in an area that is well lit either by natural light, or failing that, by means of artificial light. It is the light that brings the image to life and it is well worth putting time into planning it properly. Ultimately what you are trying to do is recreate the effect the image has on you when you see it on a computer screen. Remember the pictures themselves are works of art and when used within glass panelling in the right location or functional setting you can feel re-energised and uplifted on a regular basis, as you look at its inspiring beauty.

Features and benefits:

  • The image is identical from both sides of the glass, making it ideal as a room divider or free standing screen
  • The laminated panel is not affected by water or other harsh environmental factors such as temperature, sunlight etc, making it ideal for use in bathrooms, kitchens or even outdoors.
  • The fact that it can be opaque or translucent means that the option is there to maintain privacy while at the same time allowing the light and beauty shine through
  • All the natural benefits of toughened safety glass are inherent in all panels
